Megwyn Sanders-Andrews, Ph.D.

Megwyn has dedicated her career to accessibility and inclusion in the arts for over 20 years. She holds a Ph.D. in Interdisciplinary Theater Studies with an emphasis in Disability Studies from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and an M.A. in Performance Studies from New York University. Her dissertation examines the reciprocal relationship between representations of disability and the lived experiences of people with disabilities and chronic conditions. In addition to her work in the non-profit sector, Megwyn spent seven years as an educator in secondary and post-secondary settings. She has served as a subject matter expert for The Kennedy Center Office of VSA and Accessibility and as an NEA-funded resident expert in theater and accessibility at Aquinas College.  Megwyn has held executive leadership positions at Our Odyssey, Inc., a national organization serving young adults with rare and chronic health conditions and at DLAC, a regional disability-inclusive art center. Other past professional experiences include serving as state-wide Program Director at Arts for All WI (Madison, WI),  Artistic Director of Kaleidoscope Theater Company (Sarasota, FL), Coordinator of the Haym Salomon Division of the Arts at F.E.G.S Health and Human Services System (New York, NY) and Access for All Coordinator at Children’s Theater of Madison (Madison, WI).

  • PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE bring Megwyn back. Not only is she a lovely spirit, but I loved her workshop and want to see more of those types of boundaries and comfort zones being broken.

  • Megwyn is a person of high intelligence, great intellectual curiosity, strong moral character, as well as a respected and esteemed colleague. She is both a problem solver and a lover of ideas, an uncommon combination in my experience, and a valuable one.
